Merlin Planterose graduated with a 1st class honours degree in Jewellery and Metalwork from Duncan of Jordanstone in 2011. After receiving two gallery awards for degree show work she returned to her home near Ullapool in the North West Highlands, where she set up and ran her own jewellery design business, branching in to silversmithing and teaching.

She took a break in 2018 after having her second child to focus on setting up a new outdoor daycare centre (Kinder Croft CIC), while only taking on the occasional bespoke commission.

Now living just north of Glasgow and working from a small purpose built studio she enjoys the balance of splitting time between making jewellery, gardening and spending time with her family.
